Home Inspector School
Want to become a licensed home inspector? Join one of our upcoming courses and learn how to get certification in the state of South Carolina. We train individuals from all over our state on how to be a licensed Building inspector. We have inspectors that have grown successful businesses from all over our state. Some are making over $100,000 a year!
The number one thing I tell students is that you don't have to have prior knowledge or experience. The key is to have attention to detail and desire to work for yourself. This means you can't overlook that brown stain in the ceiling or fail to test the dishwasher or even flush the toilet upstairs or open at least one window per bedroom when inspecting. Construction knowledge helps, but it also can be learned. Join us as you learn to become your own boss. (Read below about the books you need to get)

The book is needed for the state exam not my course!
If you are enrolling in the course, please retain the book: "Principles of Home Inspection: Systems & Standards"by Carson Donlap (Dearbourne Publishing) 2003 First addition. Also there is a second and third addition that works as well. You can find this by google, amazon, ebay and a few other places. Most book stores don't sell it. (average price should be under $80.00)
In addition to the home inspector exam, there is an additional OPEN BOOK exam on "Business Law and Project management" you can find the book here:
NASCLA Contractors Guide to Business, Law and Project Management - South Carolina Residential Builders, 7th Edition 2nd Printing, National Association of State Contractors Licensing Agencies (NASCLA), 23309 N. 17th Drive, Phoenix, Arizona, 85027, Telephone: (623) 587-9519, Fax: (623) 587-9625, www.nascla.org
The exam is a 100 question multiple choice exam and you need 70% to pass. Exam fee is $75 if you do one portion at the exams. If you take both the fee is $90. It's best to take both at the same time. The home inspector's exam is 100 question exam and you need 70% to pass as well. There are certain items that are open book on this exam however the "Principles of Home Inspection: Systems & Standards" book is not used in the inspector's exam.
